Playing Cards with Melody (lacyquilter) again. We have decided to keep our Natural Beauty sets in shape. This month we are using them to make backgrounds. If you have the Natural Beauty set and want to play with us, you are welcome to play too.
My base panel is Ink Smooshing with Early Expresso but I used aluminum foil and a crumbled it up really good before I swiped it with ink and splashed with water. I think the patterns are really interesting - some of them remind me of the plastic wrap technique. For the embossing, I used the multi-word stamp in the set. I know it is an obvious choice and Melody will do something much more creative, but the original idea in my head did not seem to work with this background. I heat embossed the image so it would stand out against that dark and very busy bg.
Next, I tore through my bg so my little embossed and sponged leaf and butterfly could escape.
I stamped one of the Petal Pallet sentiments because it was laying out where I saw it first.
Unconventional Valentine, but it is going to hubby with a note that I love him like crazy and I am going to list some reasons. One of those is going to be that he never complains when I mess up our kitchen while crafting. I actually made the background here on our stove top because it has the best light and my island was covered with mail, a cookie cake, and Valentines we are making for my Grandsons' classes. Hubby is a true gem. I think that butterfly is him wanting to escape our crazy house right now (we have guests staying with us for awhile).
Can't wait to see what Melody posts - she is going to post in a few hours. She gets to sleep late today while I have to go into work early - she is such a lucky girl!
Here is her gallery if you want to check it out in a few hours:
This is also for the MIX challenge. My crinkled aluminum foil ink smooshing is my WOW technique. I remember the first time i did it - I was so amazed by the patterns. It happens every time I do it. This time, I said Wow and then when I did the white heat embossing on the card, I saw Wow again. I used ink and embossing powder as my two mediums.

Reminds me of a butterfly flying out of its cocoon! I love it! Such an amazing background you created with aluminum foil! I think your house sounds like fun!

OMG, Nancy, your card is incredible, love this! You have used one of my favourite SU sets, actually the first one I purchased all those years ago, and used it so creatively. I love how you tore the paper for the butterfly and leaf to escape, clever! The embossed sentiment looks fantastic!

I am loving your mess, Nancy! You work really well under quirky conditions! Guests, limited space, etc. Your embossed bg looks Gorgeous on the brown smooshed bg. How cool to make a tear in it to let the butterfly escape; way to go!
