These two cards for the MMTPT497 challenge took me all week to make. Polly gave us a challenge using Van Gogh's paintings. There are so many beautiful cards in the gallery with the starry nights and sunflowers. I have a mental block when it comes to making backgrounds. Decided to try the gilded faux silk technique ,which Melissa gave a wonderful video to follow. Finally did two that were presentable. Using the sunflower digi from power poppy, printed on white cardstock, colored blue card with copic markers-which have been neglected for a long time. Added wink of stella to the petals. The warm orange and yellow card was done with painting with acrylic paints. Really put a thick coat of the folk art- lemon custard paint on the petals. Then shaded it with Cajun craze reinker. Thinking it would look like an oil painting on paper. Added wink of stella. Added gold pen to borders. It really was fun, and will try to do more of the mixed media. TFL

Wow!!! Linda, I am in awe of the two masterpieces you created!! Wow! You did a outstanding job creating the two cards. They are brilliant in every way! I love the coloring of the blue and yellow/orange sunflowers and the remarkable mixed-media work! If Van Gogh were with us and saw your work, he would be super impressed! If we could rate the SCS artwork on a 1 - 5 scale, these cards would garner 5 stars for sure! I would love to see these IRL as I am sure they would be even more stunning! I want to continue to stare at them as I keep seeing other details!! Linda, you are an awesome artist, my friend!!

What can I say? These cards are just stunning, Linda. Both are just fabulous and what a wonderful technique. Sometime, I have to try the gilded faux silk. I hope mine turn out half as good as yours.

Wow ..... even your 'mental block' is nothing short of spectacular. Oh my word these cards are incredible Linda, everytime I scroll back for another look I see something I missed. I can't stay and chat, I have to go to bed for 24 hours and prepare myself for notifying the letter H this weekend.

These are glorious!!! My kind of mixed media for sure, wow!!!
At first, I was a little confused (and also tired ;)), as my first glance at the stamped focal images was that they were a Power Poppy stamp set but your list showed only Penny Black. Then, I read your narrative and felt better, you did use a PP stamp! I thought it was funny!
I love playing around with various paints and sometimes mixing it up to see what I can create--sometimes it's a muddy mess and other times what transpires is wonderful, and a lot of fun! What you have created here is so special, both painted images are fantastic yet with very different coloring mediums, which shows, Linda, how talented you are in both mediums. I love the warmth that the gold elements add, what you have created needs to be treasured and I hope that whoever is blessed to receive these cards will keep them and display them, for art needs to be displayed and these are very fine art!
Your cards never fail to inspire and teach me, and how I appreciate that. These are going into my favorites, I am in awe of what you have created, Linda.
