I loved the simplicity and minimalist style of the sketch this week. At the last minute, I incorporated the MIX challenge to use a torn edge.
I started by stamping the dots from Botanical Blooms using Milled Lavender. Then, I die cut the circle from watercolor paper; I wasn't sure if I was going to wet it, ended up not going that route. So, I stamped the flower outline in Seedless Preserves and the solid flower in Milled Lavender. Next, I used a few different purple glitter gel pens to darken the center and and its edge as well as the petals. I didn't have my scissors at hand, so I ripped a piece of the patterned paper, thus inspiring me to add this to the MIX261 challenge. I initially sponged the torn edges with Wilted Violet DOX, but it looked garish against the darker purples, so I toned it down with Walnut Stain. The Nuvo drops were made a few days prior and I just applied with Tombow mono adhesive. No sentiment yet, as I am not sure of the occasion.

Julie this is so beautiful. I recognised both challenges the minute I saw this CAS gem. I just read your comment in the Favs thread, next time you make yourself a cuppa, give all of us a virtual shout out and we can sit and join you for tea.

What an artistic take on the sketch and torn edges challenges. I love the torn strip ...it really gives this such a unique look and the sponged edges are a faux burned look without lighting a match..ha! Thanks for playing along Julie!
