Brenda gave us needlepoint.com as an inspiration site. I'm with you, Brenda, I used to do a lot of cross stitch, knitting, and crocheting, but there's no time with so many cards to make!
I went looking for a bird pattern to inspire my card for my sister's birthday. She loves birds. Well, I found this and remembered that she was shopping with me when I bought this light up card kit from Michael's. I don't really like Michael's and the only time I shop there is for the after Christmas clearance, because they do have a great after Christmas clearance. I saw these Christmas card kits and ignored them, because obviously I don't need a kit to make a card. But then I noticed that they had lights in them. And I've always wanted to try lights. So I bought one. It's a kit that makes two cards and it cost me $3. When I got home and opened it up I realized that it had a roll of sticky tape, plenty of foam mounting strips, some fun die cuts, and two nice cardbases and envelopes. It really was a steal for $3. So I went back and bought 8 more! LOL!
Anyway, for this card, I stamped the Stampendous owl that does look like a needlepoint pattern to me and cut him out with my ScanNCut. Then I found some dark bluish purple paper for the sky because my sister's favorite color is purple. I splattered some Snow Cap Mixative on it and then added some additional "splatter" with white gel pen. I sponged the vellum with Mustard Seed and put the whole card front together. Then I figured out where to stick the light, switch, and battery on the cardbase and assembled. So fun! I'm trying to decide if I want to add the "Press here" sticker or not...

I love your big ol' hootie. I had a laugh about you going back for eight more kits. I will have to check Mike's for some of these. They're probably all gone if they were Christmas kits, though. Your sis is sure to love this and that you used a lot of purple. Adorable card!!! Loved your inspiration, too...such a cute piece of needlepoint.

What if you put the press here sticker on a clear bag type envelope over the card?
I love the way the moon looks with the light on Jennifer.
Ooh I snagged me those little bottle brush looking trees around Christmas time at our store.

This is awesome, Jen! Your big moon looks so bright in the night sky. I used to do a lot of cross stitch, too. I still knit/crochet quite a bit, but usually only at night. (I have a problem sitting still & not doing anything, lol)
