This is for MIX261 - On the Edge. I am not a person who does a whole lot of torn edges. I try, I really do, but while I admire torn edges in other people's work I always feel like mine just look messy. Here I have managed to do it, I have actually torn the edges of my painted image, but I will confess for the sake of full disclosure - I used a tearing ruler so the edges would be perfectly torn. What a wimp! But hey, we are who we are.
The really crazy thing about this project is that the BG is a piece of a Gelli plate print that I did for an attempt at one of Polly's earlier IC projects (the Dale Chihuly one). I ended up abandoning it and not doing the challenge because I couldn't get the look I was going for but I kept all the attempts and now here it is. Funny how that worked out.
Thanks, Pol, for a great challenge. Ya gotta know that even this much tearing was a big thing for me, and I actually like it so maybe I made some personal growth here.
TFL!

Nothing wrong with a tearing ruler! Sometimes I think if I had some of the shaped ones I might use torn edges more, but tearing your own can be too unpredictable for me.
I love the accent pieces, the corner and the franking stamps. But I think the laid-aside background is amazing - it's like a wooden Venetian blind, and adds so much depth.

Your "Chihuly" bg looks amazing on this! It reminds me of the piece in the Paper Artsy blog post I referenced...it has a bit of an uneven look to it like the torn edges. No judgements here about using a ruler to tear your edges..it looks great and I'm happy to have contributed to your personal development..lol. That image is fab and your watercoloring of it looks wonderful..love it! Thanks for playing along Robin
