Carla has given us a very cool challenge. Use a tool or something that hasn't seen action in quite awhile. A stamper should do this once a week, and all those toys would get played with more. Our hobby really is all about trends....first started with a background stamp...remember them? Smiled when looking at the name on it...flannel shirt, this winter it was called buffalo plaid in the clothing world. Using some neglected black embossing powder embossed the stamp. Progress is good, since buying that stamp years ago, we now have the stamping positioners which make it easy. Using my Misti stamped three times to get the right coverage. The sentiment stamp came from the blackboard craze, never used it :(. Again the misti made it possible to get a really good coverage. Stamped 3 times. Next went to my tote of ribbon and braid....this really is out of control. Found this braid. Thanks, Carla for this great challenge. If starting this hobby all over....buying would be more selective, and not based on trends.

Our hind site is always better, isn't it. I am finding my old background stamps to be very useful now with the collage type techniques I like using with my oxide inks. I'm with you on that ribbon and chord thing. I now am trying to use it up on birthday packages, etc. And of course, MISTI has made our stamp life much easier. I really like the buffalo print on this card. So masculine and wonderful.

I'm with you.....trends have done me in!!! Your card is so bright and full of good cheer.........the colors, that is. I never got into the chalkboard stuff (phew!), but I must have 50 or more bg stamps. Some NEVER used. Good for you, using the old stuff. (And I don't even want to talk about ribbon!)

What a great and true story! I am with you and have way too many items that were a trend! Some of them just might return! You know, what goes around... and I can’t talk about ribbon either......not only do I have tons of mine, but when I cleaned out my mom’s house, I took all of her ribbon which was also her mother’s......
Great looking card with all the supplies that you were able to use today!

This turned into a fantastic masculine card - and while I can definitely relate to your bg stamp being called 'flannel shirt" or even 'woodcutters plaid' what the heck is BUFFALO plaid?? I for one have never seen a plaid buffalo . . . .

Striking card, Linda! Love the braid and blackboard sentiment with the plaid. I doubt the Misti will ever fall into the unused category. I'm with you, if I was starting over I would be so selective with my purchases. I'm trying to do that now Thanks for giving an unused tool some love and playing in my challenge.

Buffalo plaid or flannel shirt, I like it, Linda...so pretty done in the black/red combo. Your braid is beautiful and works wonderfully! Loved reading your story~

I thought the plaid was DP! Mistis are great to get good coverage! Before we probably would have several half stamped copies! This would make a great guy card! Love the braid and sentiment!

What a fabulous masculine card, Linda. Love your chalkboard sentiment, braid and the cool plaid. It's amazing the stuff we have and don't use, isn't it.

Loved hearing how you came to make this card! I think it would be a good idea to get out the old stuff a little more often!! It would be a trend again! Fabulous card too!
