Carla has challenged us to use a tool that we haven't used in awhile. I looked back at my cards and realized that I haven't used my brayer roller since March of 2016. I just don't know how to use it properly. So, I searched "brayer" in the tutorials and found Embossed Embossing. It did give a nice clean look vs. how I would have otherwise just rubbed the Versa Mark directly on the paper and got a messy looking background. Thanks for the challenge, Carla!
I made a card like this for Bugaboo's 8th birthday challenge and showed some friends. It was a hit. I had two friends ask me to make one for them. So I checked out the Stella Says Sketch Challenge #602.

Your embossed background turned out great, Jen, very crisp looking. I'm certainly happier with my brayer for stuff like this than for brayered backgrounds, which I don't have the patience for. Cute little turtle, too.

I almost grabbed up my brayer as well. This is such a cute card.

Hmmm.......I should have used a brayer too.....can't get the hang of it. Obviously you did, as that bg is phenomenal!! Love the turtle, but those little pennants are what did me in!! Love this card. So happy!

Cute card, Jenn. Love that adorable turtle and the crisp colors of the wood grain look great as a bg. The brayer works so well for that technique. Funny how the same tool gets used by some crafters and languishes in a drawer for others. Thanks for giving an old tool some love and playing in my challenge.

Super cute turtle and little dsp flags below that panel. I use my brayer nearly every time I use a background stamp, or want to ink up the inside of an embossing folder. One person's favorite is another person's "never-used"!
