This card is for a recent challenge using the silhouette technique.
I started by stamping one of my favourite stamps, PB's Poppy and coloured it in using a black texture pen. So far so good.....
Now for the background...I had my Lindy's magicals out and started with the green, yellow and blue but by the time I had finished it didn't quite look right and I thought my grandchildren could do better. Out came more colours when I spied my gesso...now this softens things, lets give this a go....mmm...much better.
I also have a few mixed media stamp sets that haven't seen the light of day and this year I intend to use them....so on go the circles and butterflies. Still missing something. Out comes the stencil and paste. Now I'm getting somewhere but still those colours.
Gelatos out and away I go adding more colour....some improvement, but the problem with me and mixed media is that I never know when to stop...and I'm having such fun :)
Twine, that's what it needs....I finally find some in red and white. I spy my SU red ink and before I know it I'm dying the twine to get rid of the white. So far ok except I really should have waited until it dried properly, but a couple of small red dots won't hurt :)
Charcoal pencil and white sharpie pen out and I'm going to town...when I think, I really want to try some splatters. This is the point where I really should have stopped, but why stop when you are having fun :)
I was about to splat some spots, when a huge drop fell onto my card....big oops.....no problem...out comes the gesso now and it's turning to mud...dry, more gesso, more gelatos...phew...I think I really must stop now.
It may sound exhausting, but given all of the above, I had fun and love this technique.
TFL. Happy day
