I was inspired by the bird, the colors, and the mixed media look in this image here (4th row second from left). I also used emboss resist (WT671).
I have been wanting to try my new scribbly birds stamps so this was the perfect opportunity. I stamped and then embossed the bird and the sentiment strips in black, sponged color on the bird, splattered with water, blotted with paper towel, and then fussy cut the bird and sentiment strips. For the bg I started with sponging through a stencil for the rays and then moved the stencil slightly and dabbed versamark through the stencil. I clear embossed this, leaving a thin white highlight where I had slightly moved the stencil. Then I sponged the bg with multiple DI, and built up the bg with more stamping and sponging through portions of stencils. Sponged some black around the edges, attached a torn piece of black across the bottom to anchor the bird and adhered the bird and the sentiment strips.

Maura, I love your mixed media bird card. The sun rays look wonderful and that is such a great sentiment. Super job with the colors, too.

Gorgeous card, Maura. I added this to my mixed media Pinterest bored. Wonderful mix of colors and patterns. I love how you used the stencil behind the bird.
