Good morning, all!
Though this color challenge truly challenged me to go outside my comfort zone of color options (a theme as of late for me - I love it how the hostesses always inspire me to stretch my creativity!!!), I was super excited to try this combination. The Sweet Chocolate Macaroon colors are pretty and feminine, yet soft enough to still meld well with winter-themed cards. And since we're just getting started in winter here in northern Minnesota (one of my favorite seasons!), I am deeply in love with using the beautiful snow outside to inspire my creativity - which is probably why I've done so many clean and simple (CAS) cards as of late! Lots of white reminds me of lots of snow!
That said, all I had was the Chocolate Chip color in my arsenal, so I substituted Orchid Opulence for the Sweet Sugar Plum (mail in the mailbox and the mailbox flag), and used the colored pencil closest to Mint Macaroon to color the mailbox. I added some neutral coloring below the mailbox and behind the animals to help them pop a bit more and look less plain. In addition, I sanded the snowbank to give it more of a "fluffy" appearance and highlighted the edges with a glitter pen to further bring the feeling of new-fallen, sparkly snow (and added a few glitter accents to the background of both panels).
I have a very kind and dear friend which I wanted to send a thank you/thinking of you card to, and I threw this together very quickly last night. I added more finishing touches on it 1/9/18 before mailing it (making it a shaker card and adding a few turquoise rhinestones).
The CC668 "dessert" of `something new' is the Winter Time Fun stamp set by Hero Arts - I have had this now for about a year but had yet to use anything but the small present from it, so I incorporated these adorable forest critters and the mailbox into this design to send some "happy mail." This using something new also incorporates perfectly WT669 (though I have another WT669 card I will be uploading later and will post both cards to that challenge form at the same time. ;) )
Thank you so so SO much to our hostess this week for a great color challenge! I think I'll keep this combo in my back pocket through spring as I can see it working well for a variety of occasions!
Thank you for viewing my card, however simple it may be!
Blessings,
C

Wowza great job with the color challenge on this snowglobe and you made it to a shaker card that is brilliant! I don't make shaker cards often enough. I love them but just don't get around to making them. This one is super cute. Thank you for playing in the WTUI challenge.
