This week's teaparty, Music by the Sea is for Lambert and Kathy Kanakaole, Vicki's (Hawaiian) family. Come join the party and add some sunshine to their life.
This card is for Kathy, who loves flowers and purple. I knew I had some purple flowers in my stash. My colors on the rhododendron were brighter than I liked, so I toned it down with a white charcoal pencil. I finished coloring the large flower petals with chalk pastels and colored pencils and fussy cut the flowers to create some depth. Die cut a frame with my new Hemstitch frame, backed the cutwork with purple paper and mounted the panel on lavender paper. Stamped the sentiment and mounted the flower with dimensional tape to pop it up. TFL

Oh wow, your purple flower is fabulous and looks like it is coming off the page. Wonderful! I like the purple showing through the cutwork. Beautiful card!

White charcoal!! I didn't know such things existed. In real life I feel a little ambivalent about rhododendrons because here they are a highly invasive escape which have overrun a lot of native flora. But they do look beautiful, and your one here ticks both boxes - beautiful and non-invasive!

Wow Carla, this card is so striking and so beautiful with this large purple bloom jumping right out of the gallery. You have colored and framed this bloom to perfection! Kathy will appreciate the beauty and love you put into this wonderful card! ~Karen.
