Two fun challenges today! One to use our favorite stamp of 2017 and one to use a favorite technique. I think my favorite new stamps this year are the Verve stamps I won in DTGD. The stamping events are one of my favorite things about SCS and our generous donors are the icing on the cake. I'm so thankful to Verve and our other sponsors.
Now we all know that my real favorite technique is plaid backgrounds. But I thought I'd show some love for alcohol backgrounds today. I do have kid of a love hate relationship with them. I struggle getting them to look exactly the way I want. I guess that's just part of the fun though. So I made a green background with the alcohol inks and dropped on some red dots. Then I stamped on my Verve poppies. Drew in some stems with a Sharpie and stamped the leaves. Finished the panel of with a gold marker border. There's one sympathy card for my stash. I've got some serious stash building to do!

I really like the way you used this stamp...I have a similar one but by another company and it is a great image and versatile. That bg looks so cool with the red poppies. Lovely sympathy card.

Not possible to make an alcohol background to order, I don't think. I have difficulties with non-duplicatable techniques myself! That is a great set...good choice! And great on this card.

Howdy neighbor! Hope you are keeping warm!! I love the poppy stamp, and your fun alcohol inks. Makes a wonderful card for a very difficult occasion. The addition of the stems with the Sharpie, and the leaves make this a winner!

Oh this looks splendid! I have just this set from Verve and it was one of my choices for my HYCCT prize several years ago. Isn't Verve the greatest?! I really appreciate their sponsorship of the SC challenges. :-) Love the way you used the poppies. Beautifully dramatic against that glowing background!

Beautiful sympathy card, Jen. I love the flowers and the technique you used. I may have to try this. Happy New Years!
