Every year, my mom & I send an extra donation to Northeast Animal Shelter, a no-kill animal rescue shelter in Salem, MA, (USA) for Christmas. I always make a card to send with the donation.
I created an A2-size "canvas" in Photoshop, and moved the cat, dog, & Santa window images onto that. I used 2 digital papers from Doodle Pantry for the carpet & wallpaper. To give the carpet some texture, I added some digital "noise" to it. I also lowered the saturation level and lightened it. I used the custom shape tool to draw lines for the baseboard. I added the Santa hat image to the puppy, sizing & rotating it to fit on his head. Finally, I printed the composite image onto a panel of mixed media paper. I colored the images with my Inktense pencils, using a damp paintbrush to pick up the color from the pencils & apply it to the paper.
For the inside of the card (bottom portion of the photo), I used an old Creating Keepsakes font to spell out "Merry Woofmas, Y'all!" I also used the custom shape tool to draw 2 paw prints on either side of our name & address. I printed that onto a 5.25x4" panel of mixed media paper. I colored the boxes in the letters and the paw prints with my Inktense pencils, using the same procedure as for the images on the front of the card. I adhered that to the inside of my white card base, & mounted the front panel to the card base as well. Hopefully, the people at the shelter will get a kick out of this!
