Stef is our hostess in the Color Challenge this week, and she has asked us to use Berry Burst, Pacific Point and Rich Razzleberry. The dessert option this week is a winter sky or winter scene. Wow! This was really a challenge for me.
I decided to go all in and make a winter sky/Christmas card using Distress Inks on watercolor paper. I came as close to the challenge colors as I could, using Picked Raspberry, Faded Jeans and Seedless Preserves. For my neutrals, I used black and a touch of Antique Linen to color the moon.
I masked the area for the moon, and sponged the three ink colors onto the watercolor panel. I tried to fade from blue to purple to pink. I removed the mask, and then used the negative masking paper to cover the sky while I sponged the Antique Linen ink over the moon.
Then I stamped the Santa and sleigh, the treetops and the sentiment, went over the words "calm" and "bright" with Wink of Stella, and added some sequin stars in the sky.
True confessions, I mounted this panel on the card base with temporary adhesive, thinking I would never send this card and could reuse the base. But it has grown on me and I think it will go into my Christmas card stash for this year, which, by the way, is nowhere near as large as it should be!
Thanks for stopping by, and please play along with us this week!
