WooHoo it's Tickle a Teapotter time of the month and we are going back to Whykickamoocow to help them design a calendar. I am a June baby, which here in Australia, is winter. I couldn't decide if I wanted to do a northern hemisphere calendar picture or southern hemisphere....so I did both.
I made a Z-fold card, actually it's not really a z-fold, it's more like a scor-fold-scor-fit-an-envelope type card. The technique is the shaving cream technique (almost) found in the Tutorial section at SCS. I didn't know there was a difference between shaving cream and foaming shaving gel when I attempted this technique.
I didn't realise how much the foam shaving gel "grew". I squirted a small amount on a plate and before I knew it, there was enough foam to cover half my desk. I quickly added a few drops of Distress ink refills, dragged a toothpick through it and laid the cardstock on top.
With the 18 tons of foam left, I just kept dunking cardstock into it. I have enough backgrounds to make a complete calendar...it could be a scratch n' sniff calendar - the shaving gel smells great! I hope the dogs at Customs don't eat it!!
About my summer and winter girls..they are both digi images by Sassy Cheryl, printed onto copy paper, coloured with pencils, Zest-it pencil blend and highlights added with Copics. Being copy paper, fussy cutting is a breeze. The girls were adhered to the background using a glue stick. I didn't apply glue over the entire images, this gives a fun 3D effect. The hanging branches were stamped on, then I applied a gazillion dots of liquid pearls.
I accidentally chopped off one of Miss Summers toes, which is rather fitting for me. I don't have toe nails on the little toe of each foot. As a little tacker aged about 5, I was sliding down a metal slide, on my tummy, as you do, when my little toes got stuck in the side rails. To cut a long story short, half the town turned out to either help or watch the local tractor mechanic and the district midwife extract me from the slide. Ahhh the joys of being a kid, living in a country town in the 1950's.

I'll be back later to comment on your wonderful card, Susie. Shaving foam expands a lot too! I didn't realise that gel did till the morning I used it by mistake instead of deodorant. I nearly needed another shower, especially as we are not meant to go into work smelling strongly of anything. I do love the smell of the panels after using the technique. Tacker, that's southern English, Cornwall lingo, maybe Devon; I've never heard it anywhere else! I wonder if the Cornish miners who emigrated to Australia brought it over.

Are you kidding - a toe is missing!! Awe, Susie, no one describes his/her artwork like you! I LOVE reading your remarkable stories!! But most importantly, your card is another wonderful masterpiece!! I love that you added images for the north and south!! Your shaving cream debacle description is fantastic and the panels you created with the technique are gorgeous. I don't know which girl I like the most. Both are beautifully colored, as usual, and appear to be having fun! My friend, I do love this outstanding piece of art!! Hugs!!

Awesome story - I adore your stories. Awesome girls too - you colored them up absolutely wonderfully and then you fussy cutting and gluing are perfect. Only you could make gluing something into a new technique. I will be buying glue stick now and seeing what kind of foaming gel they have at Walmart or Dollar General. So fun and I hope the dogs at custom's don't eat this super fun card!!!

I'm glad you did both southern and northern hemisphere June pages, they are both delightful. While I was very much a water baby...even with the cold Atlantic, I think I slightly prefer the winter scene with the beautiful flowering tree. And oh my, those shaving foam/gel backgrounds are incredibly beautiful. Who needs to buy cloudy DP if they could reproduce this.

Oh my goodness I love the shaving cream BG. I totally agree it smells amazing. Oh yes those dogs well hopefully they will just smell and walk away. No toe, on no. How scary but I totally can relate to childhood accidents I have a few of my own. About the card Oh this is just too darling. Both Summer and Winter and both girls are just too cute! Great coloring to go with them. Some teapotter is going to just love this adorable card. Thanks for a super fun challenge.
