And for one of my most stressful cards to make each year... :-) It took a while to decide how to start this year's anniversary card for my beloved husband. We have a plethora of wedding invitations left, due to the printing companies mistake, and as such I have made it my mission to use a particular piece from those invitations for our anniversary card each year. Waste not, want not, right? (This year, like last year's card, has that particular element appearing on the inside of the card.)
I wanted to go one step further this year, and incorporating ways to use it challenge 663, Thanksgiving leftovers, I thought I would use even more of our leftover invitations... In this case, I am not only using that particular element, but the envelope, as well as the main panel of the card with the tree cutouts just being an invitation used in reverse, with the back of the invitation appearing as the front of the card. :-) I had also gathered some birch-bark from our backyard this summer hoping to use it in a card for my husband this year. You see, we soon hope to be moving... (Well, probably not for another year now with what we have decided to undertake) but this place means a lot to him as he bought it himself as a young man, long before I came into the picture. :-)
For this month's fan club central theme, holiday happiness, this card is celebrating one of the most important holidays if you will, in our household... our in-between-holidays 3rd anniversary! :-)
And finally for clean and simple challenge 453, oh Christmas tree, what better way than to highlight the very tree our pine cones come from? (A pinecone is the element I try to use from our invitations every year.)
Overall, I'm pretty happy with how this turned out! It took a lot of thinking before I got started, but once I got started, the card came together pretty slick. :-)
Thank you so much to the hostesses for these great challenges, and thank you so much for taking the time to view my card! But don't tell my husband about this card just yet... Our anniversary isn't for another 11 days! Ha! :-)
Blessings,
C

Happy Anniversary! And what a wonderful way to use up all the leftover cards from your wedding--great idea! I hope you have enough leftovers to take you to at least your 50th! Beautiful card!

What a really great leftover challenge. A double challenge, too - anniversary cards are hard enough without the extra "use a dud invitation" added to the mix. This turned out so beautifully.
