This is for Sabrina's fun Blast Off into Space challenge.
This digi image is by Molly Harrison, her work is amazing and her prices are great. She sells actual adult colouring books and also digital versions.
I coloured Judy Jetson and the entire backgound including moon with Prismacolour pencils and Zest-It pencils blend. I usually sit my copy paper on a few sheet of copy paper or on a nice smooth writing pad. Because I wanted a grainy, motley look for the moon, I sat the image on a rough tooth watercolour pad to colour it.
I then added lots of distress inks to the background by smacking the ink pads onto aluminium foil, because this is just copy paper I did NOT add water. I used a dauber to pick the ink up from the foil, the ink is easier to blend on the paper than by pushing the dauber into the ink pad. It is also a good way to mix some of the colours together.
Next step was to add lots of stickles....big mistake, this look terrible. Distress inks wasn't doing the trick so I gathered up few northern-lights type colour Copics.
I have mentioned before that it is probably best to clean the nibs of Copics when using them over pencils.
I can now tell you that it is best NOT to use Copics over the top of pencils that are covered with Zest -It blend, distress inks and millions of Stickles spots. I'm thinking that I probably should have checked that all the Stickles were dry.
This took longer to photograph than it did to make, Stickles sure are hard to photograph. Thank you for looking, I hope you are having a happy inky week.

Adult colouring books always sound a bit iffy, as if they were X-rated....I know they're not!!!
Wow, wow. What an amazing sky with the sparkle in it. At first I thought you must have used metallic gilding flakes. So the time spent on the photo was worth it... haven't we all been there both on the struggle with photos of Stickles AND the not all quite dry problem. What amazing colouring, too... especially on her headdress, tattoo, not quite sure what to call it... And the Liquid Pearls add a real alien effect to her.

I couldn't wait to read your story, when I read the title! I've learned a lot from your experiences, without the pain of having to go through them myself. That Judy Jetson image is gorgeous and I love how you coloured her. The moon is incredible, and the sky turned out just perfect, with those colourful twinkles for stars. I love it!
