With our 44th wedding anniversary coming up, I thought this challenge would be perfect for the card I give my husband each year.
Since it was a "guy card" I used blues and aquas. I only have one set of letter/number dies, so that helped determine the size of the oval, which in turn required that I turn the sketch 90 degrees to become a landscape card.
The thin foil was glued to a scrap piece of Whisper White using a Xyron Laminater to make it sturdy enough to punch out the scalloped element. I wanted the scallops to be foil to tone down the feminine feel that scallops usually impart... nothing says "guy" like a metal-like element!
As I started combining all the shades of blue/aqua it seemed to be too many blah flat panels, so I used my Stampin' Up! Seaside Embossing Folder to give some texture to the SU Bermuda Bay panel under the matted sentiment oval.
The only stamping on this card was the word "Anniversary" from the SU Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set. I inked the "Happy Anniversary" stamp, then used a baby wipe to remove the ink from the "Happy" word before stamping.
The matted oval was attached to the front panel using Adhesive Foam Strips to raise it off the card and give it depth.
I always find it hard to make guy cards without including tools, cars, camping/fishing... so this relatively plain card with just a few rounded elements hopefully does the trick.
