The Friday Free For All Challenge, F4A401 - Fiber Is Good For You 10/27/17, was to use some kind of fiber on a card. My fiber of choice for this card was jute twine.
This challenge inspired me to put some ink on a new layered Pine Needles stamp set from Gina Marie Designs. My experience using layered stamps is almost non-existent, and despite this being a professionally designed set of stamps, I managed to bungle the placement and alignment of the pine needles. Hence the need for the birds to cover the evidence!
I also learned a valuable lesson about using the new Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks. Always use water-friendly paper if you might to do the water spot technique.
In an effort to spiff up the look of the pine boughs, I sponged Distress Oxide ink in the background. Then I flicked water on the scene, thinking it would create cool looking white dots that would look like falling snow. Unfortunately, what resulted was raised splotches on the blue background and runny ink on the pine needles!!!!! Yikes!
The only thing I could think of to mask the epic fail from the water splats was to try to distract the eye with a scattering of multi-sized sequins....as you can see there are a LOT of sequins. Did I mention how much I dislike glue those little puppies to a card front? I finally quit when I hit an even dozen of them, that has be an all time record in my card making history.
Thank you kindly for stopping by and looking at my Pine Needles Greetings, and for enduring my tale of woe in its making. Have a joyful day!

Whatever the evidence was, you definitely covered it because I see nothing but great stamping. Love your birds, though, just the same. Those tree rings really caught my eye, too, and is perfect to use with your image. Twine looks great with this woodsy card.

Your description of the creation of this card has me laughing. We have all been there. But to look at this beautiful card, you would never know. I really like the way you combined those tree trunks in the background with the pine needles. That inspires me to try that. But no water spots or birds. Ha! You are a great sport to tell on yourself.
