Robin challenged as with "Your Happy Place" this week and I was torn between a doggy card and a flower one. I had already printed off this lovely poppy image from Aurora Wings so decided to go with that. I love bright colours so poppies call to me from the wild places that they grow. I love the way they are so delicate and yet can grow in the most barren spots. I also love that they are a symbol to remind us of all those who fought for our freedom and that people of all ages wear them as a remembrance in November. I coloured them with pencils as that reminds me of the happy hours colouring as a kid. Lastly I added a dragonfly as I love to see them flitting near the river and the flash of colour they show to us on a sunny day.

Your card is gorgeous, Janine! And I love the story of the poppies. We have them growing here along the interstate. They really are a beautiful flower, and yours are fabulous.

So, so, pretty! I, too, love poppies, and the symbolism- In Flanders Fields, where so many young men in WWI made the ultimate sacrifice. Thanks for sharing this meaningful card. It's lovely!

Your poppies are gorgeous!! I think they are such special flowers - probably because of what they remind us of. I like that you also mentioned coloring as a kid - those were probably some of my best times. :>)

I have to agree with you - poppies are such a special flower - so delicate and dainty - but they always put on such a great show and pop up in the most unexpected places. Bright and cheery.
