Todays Ways to Use It Challenge, WT655 - DIY Decorations (9/28/17), was pretty easy to understand, and not so easy to follow! "Don't buy it, DYI it!" We were instructed to make our own embellishments, rather than using store-bought items.
After ratting around in my supply drawers, I unearthed some DIY Enamel Dots that I made several years ago by melting plastic pony beads in the oven. These dots have been lingering, unused and under-appreciated. This challenge seemed like the perfect time to put them to use.
Because these DIY dots are all one size - that size being large and ackward - I was stumped on how to use them. The only thing I could come up with was as flower centers, because I happened to have a very old flower punch that was the right size to accommodate these dots. That's a heck of a way to come up with a design idea, but so be it! Ha...
To kick it up a notch, and make it really DYI, I made the flowers with 3 layers of cardstock so they would look like chipboard. Did the same with the stitched rectangle frame die cut.
To add a bit of textural interest to this simple card, I debossed the card base front with Stampin Up' new Quilt Top embossing folder. I thought the delicate design of the embossing sort of echoed the shape of the flowers.
This was a delightful challenge! I've become so used to pulling out factory made embellishments, forgetting about the fun that can be had by using supplies that have been pushed to the back of drawers and forgotten. Thanks for popping by an looking at my DIY Daisy Dots. Why don't you dig through your supplies and make your very own DIY creation. I would love to see it!

LOL, I recognised the flower punch, it's a lovely one. The layered flowers and DIY dot centres look great. I like the contrast between the textured base and smooth surface for the framed panel.
