With the leaves falling off our maples onto the yard, my thoughts have been turning to fall here in Idaho. The round element of the sketch right away made me think of pumpkins, so I turned to my Stampin' Up! Swirly Scribbles die set for an open "pumpkin". I cut it from SU Calypso Coral cardstock. The leaves were die cut using the same die set from SU Garden Green cardstock.
After gluing the pumpkin shape down with Tombow glue, I stamped the smallest twig from the SU Swirly Birds set as the stem for the pumpkin, then glued down the two leaves.
The green horizontal element required in the sketch was first cut wider than the pumpkin, then using the pumpkin die, I cut the Garden Green strip so the right and left internal edges would match exactly to the pumpkin shape. After I attached the Calypso Coral "flag" sentiment banner I realized I really didn't have to be so precise on how the green strip fit since it would mostly be covered up.
The "Happy Thanksgiving" sentiment is from the SU Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set. It's stamped with Versafine Black Onyx ink (because the letters are so small and needed a very fine ink so the letter openings wouldn't fill in) on a strip of Calypso Coral cardstock slightly thinner than the green strip behind it. The flagged end of the banner was created with paper snips. I mounted the sentiment banner using Adhesive Foam Strips to raise it off the panel just a bit.
So, it not only is "clean and simple", but also "quick and easy"!
