WooHoo it's Tickle a Teapotter time and Sandy has given us a terrific tale of Katie and her cousin Carrie. Carrie was all for 'glamping' with all the bells and whistles for the Millennials, while Katie wanted to get back to the basics.
Katie went through the family album and found this happy snap of them settling in under the stars at the Teapotterville Caravan Park. It wasn't really a caravan park, it was just Katie's backyard but they loved setting up the tents for sleepovers! We used to do this as kids during the school holidays - loved it!!
I recently made a Teapotter card where I completely mucked up the sky, so I cut the sky are out and turned it into a night scene. I have done the same here, but this time it wasn't due to a mistake, I actually wanted to do it like this. I tried stamping a face into the moon but I got a bit carried away with the silver ink and nothing was going to make an impression - not even Stazon!
All of the colouring was done with Prismacolour pencils and highlights were added using Copic markers. To take the 'new' bright look away and make it look 'old' but still bright, I gently swiped over the card with a walnut stain distress ink foam blending sponge, just using the ink that was already on it.
If there isn't enough colour on the blending tool, simply bang it on the distress ink pad, then scrub most of it off, leaving just enough to transfer a smidgen of colour.
Thanks so much for looking, I had a heap of fun making this, especially knowing it is going to a fellow Teapotter.

Susie, I can now see your sweet card now, and have noticed a few photos that appear to be missing.
Your backyard glamping is delightful; love the colorful patchwork tents and dimensional trees. The full moon cresting over the tents brings back fond memories of backyard camping with girlfriends. During the full moon, we would ride bicycles under the moonlight and then sneak into backyard pools for a quick (and quiet) dip in the water!! Ahhh to be a youth again!! Lol
You’ve created & captured a treasure of memories here my friend!

Such fun tents - ours were never that colourful - just an old sheet over the washing line or some old curtains Mum had stored away. I never slept out though until I was a Guide.
Cute, cute card.

Oh Susie, thank you for taking my little story and bringing it to life and giving the girls a history. How fun.
Love everything abut this card, especially those tents made from patchwork quilts and that big moon that probably had Katie and Carrie telling ghost stories before trying to go to sleep. (In fact, that may be why they are peeking out of their tents, checking for ghosts!)

NOw that is one GORjuss big fall moon, perfect for sleeping under. Look at all the stars to count too...OR maybe even a couple glow bugs...:0) we used to like sleeping in the back yard too. Had a tent set up in our "campground" in the trees. was fun until you heard distant coyotes and then a cat comes walking along your tent, making you think the coyotes are close....lol...imaginations...lol. Love their patch tents and they even have company to sleep with..adorable...LOVE this scene sis....bet these two are having a blast...they have a great campground, nice soft grass, pretty trees and that wonderful moonlight...:0)....tfs

What a hoot, not only a beautiful night to spend in the backyard but a story too! The glam girlie tents are just the thing for a backyard sleepover! Your coloring brings the whole card to life and sets the stage for the final touch of little fireflies in the trees.
Makes up for that ole moon not showing his face!!
Brings back memories of my sons backyard camping trips!

Patchwork tents! I hope they waterproofed all the stitching, LOL. Mind you, it looks like a beautiful clear night so they should stay dry. We loved putting the tent up in the garden too and sleeping out, a real treat. But ours was a very basic green canvas tent, nothing as pretty as these. I like the way they have the dogs along for company . What wonderful grass! It was one of the things DH really loved about the campsite I posted the photos of, the feeling of the grass underfoot. The more southern campsites, the ground is hard and dry. He'd like your campsite.
