The Clean & Simple Challenge this week - CAS444 National Bow Tie Day Aug 28 (8/28/17) - was to put a bow on your card project.
I wanted to make a thank you card for a neighbor who kindly watched over our home while we scooted away to attend a multi-day country music concert. As chance would have it, I had recently purchased the Country Livin' stamp set, strictly for the cool pickup truck stamp in the set. Little did I know at the time that this boot stamp would come in handy, and that I would use it to make "girly boots"!
The watercoloring was quickly done by lightly wetting the stamped boot image (used Versafine ink which is water color friendly) on Strathmore Watercolor paper. Then I used Evergreen Bough distress marker directly on the wet image, and let the water carry the color through the boot - I added touches more for darker shading as it dried. Then I used SU Baked Brown Sugar marker to do the detailing on the boot and a bit of Hickory Smoke distress marker on the soles and the ground. I accidentally smeared a bit of wet color while I was watercoloring, so decided to disguise it by adding splatters of Evergreen Bough ink and Baked Brown Sugar ink. The thanks die cut was colored with a swipe of leftover Baked Brown Sugar ink.
To complete the card I added a leftover strip of SU Hardwood (Baked Brown Sugar ink & cs) onto a Rustic white cardbase, put the boot tag on it and finished with a simple jute twine bow.
Thanks for stopping by and taking a look at my Boot Scootin' Thanks!
