Robin (Stamperrobin) hosted today's Free 4 All Challenge, and she provided a very creative one! Such an awesome challenge, Robin!! Her challenge, "National Day of ______?", is “to pick something to be YOUR "National Day of", which just says you!” I am a breast cancer survivor, therefore, my selection is a National Breast Cancer Survivor Day.
My card is a shaker card that features the breast cancer ribbon. I decided to use pink, green, and yellow colors for my card instead of just the typical pink for breast cancer. I added the extra colors to represent not only those on this terrible journal, but also those who are survivors.
On the main panel, I stamped the sentiment, So Glad You Are A Survivor, several times using VersaMark Ink. I then covered them with white embossing powder and heat set. Then I used the Emboss Resist technique on the panel. The ribbon in the center of the card is outlined with pink and yellow mini flowers.
My card will be sent to my 35-year-old niece who is just finishing breast cancer treatments.
Thanks for viewing!
Bev

What a wonderful card, Bev. I was 42 when I had a double mastectomy, 17 years ago, so your card i s very meaningful to me. I love all the little flowers and how you added the other bright colors to the traditional pink.

This is so lovely, Bev. Your lovely, soft colors on your background panel, the pretty flowers, and sparkly shaker sequins, very pretty. I'm glad you are a survivor!

Thank you for sharing your story with us Bev, we are blessed that you had a great outcome. I don't think a week goes by where you haven't contributed to my heart smiling. Now about your card....I LOVE IT!!! I pray there is the same happy outcome for your niece.

Oh, wow! This is soooo gorgeous!!! You know I love the pink but adding the green and yellow really adds to this. I wonder if I need new embossing powder, my white embossed cards never look so crisp! I love that you made a shaker from the ribbon. I have only created one shaker and I have to say it was a simple rectangle and it gave me trouble. I can't imagine the extra time it took you to do this shape! Fab card!!!

Beautiful card Bev! We should pray for those who have to face cancer and treatments for it. It is such a horrible ordeal I am sure.
