This is the best I can do for Ky's Me and My Shadow mixed media challenge. Any type of colouring requiring light, shade and shadows is not my forte. The shadow I added round the butterfly turned out quite well, not so much the one on the seed head.
I sponged the tag with a few colours of DOX, then stamped and embossed the seed head from Art Journey, and added a little colour to it with Inktense pencils. Spritzed the tag and stamped Gorgeous Grunge and a text stamp on it. Then added the grass from Inspired by Nature, in both Versafine and regular distress. I embossed a trail for the butterfly using an embossing folder and a stylus, and then accentuated it with dots in white and gold.
The butterfly was stamped and embossed on heavy vellum, then sponged with distress oxides. Finally I went looking through all my stamps for a suitable sentiment and came up with one from a Unity kit.
I have two more butterflies on my desk as I went through a couple of colour variations before deciding this one looked best. And as soon as I've uploaded this, I'll replace it with another photo where the butterfly isn't reflecting so much light - I embossed the whole thing with clear EP after sponging the colour on.

Your tag is gorgeous! Love your colors and your sentiment great. I used to have a book by Gibran but I think my niece ended up with it at her wedding. And I have to agree with you, I am not good at shading or shadowing. Haven't decided if I will attempt the MIX238. Might do some more G45 instead.

I can see them both Sabrina, I think the only reason the butterfly pops more is the grass is thick around the pod so, its there and it looks really neat. I absolutely have to try this one

Wonderful tag! Not too good at shading? That's what challenges are for! Practice! I do love this - that butterfly is definitely hovering near that seed pod. Nice work!

I love your tag and the blending is beautiful. I don't know how I have lived this long without distress inks and now the oxides. I don't think I will ever go back to using my old pads for much. I just love that look that the oxide inks achieve.

This is one beautiful tag, Sabrina!! I love all the layers and the beautiful sentiment!!
Just a little north of here, the thistles like this are in full bloom. So pretty with the Black eyed Susan's that share the edge of the road with them.

Sabrina, this is gorgeous! Wow!!! Love the way you did everything on it - but especially the shadowing.
