And now crafters and Dirty girls...my traditional final card for Dare to Get Dirty...a good-night neighborhood scene.
Lydia and all the Dirty Girls, this tacky card is a thank you for all the fun I had this week. It didn't start out tacky (they never do), but I started adding challenges to it and it just got that way. I think I hit 25 of the 35 challenges on this one card. It was fun to make even if it's no longer pretty. In fact I think I might have gotten TicTacToe or BINGO or something! Read on if you want a guided tour...
The front of the card is an entrance to a neighborhood, complete with dry embossed brick pillar--which I smeared paint on (with my finger) to highlight the texture. A sprinkler is running and there is water dripping off of the fussycut flowers--I think they've had plenty of water. Thanks a Million sentiment is illustrated with chipboard number and round sequins--sparkly circles--and the arrow was painted with a smooth stick.
The neighborhood itself (one of my very favorite older stamps) is a wheel that I rolled in Versamark and embossed in white to get that chalkboard effect. I had a little space at the beginning next to the dog house, so I invited some dogs to come along...and then a butterfly wandered onto the scene.
Now this isn't just any old neighborhood, it is a crafty neighborhood. You can see the emboss resist technique (with yellow paint) in the windows where the crafters are staying up late trying to finish one more card for the Dare to Get Dirty challenges. Such a fun neighborhood! Wish I lived there!
One little lady--I'm sure she's crafty too--she just gets her inspiration from a good run around the neighborhood (but she forgot to take her glasses off before she started running--or maybe they are running goggles to protect her eyes while she's running). In fact, I know she's crafty--just look at those wheels going around in her thought bubble. They were so busy that I had to make it a Shaker thought bubble just to get all the thoughts in--and look at those steampunk gears (made of a pie pan) in her thoughts! Wonder which challenge she is working on??! She is wearing a funny running suit, though, plaid top with super-suit bottoms and she's made herself a tissue paper cape. My, I was right! She IS crafty. (No wonder she runs at night!) I'm a little fearful for her safety though. Those giant ants must be coming home from a picnic and they are awfully close to where she is standing!! Yikes!
On the last panel of this trifold, you will find a little pocket to hold a business card or a gift card. The pocket is made of strips of designer paper, then highlighted with washi tape. The back of this panel doesn't show very well, but it has black on black cling wrap technique.
The business card I created is shaving cream technique in black. The Splitcoast rubber stamp was in my stash--don't remember when I got that--a LONG time ago! Had to highlight the heart with glimmer paper because I sure do LOVE me some Splitcoast!
It isn't a birthday card, but I made it on my birthday weekend. It isn't a get-well card, but it sure did make me feel better to do it. I was laughing out loud, and they say that laughter is good medicine....and I feel like Mothermark telling such a long and silly story.
Seriously, I look forward to this week every year. I loved it and I even think you stepped up your game this year. The challenges were interesting and challenging! THANK YOU to each and every one of you that had a part in production!

...with my apologies to the inspiration. I promise I did take that challenge seriously--just check my gallery and you'll see. It will be obvious if you know what to look for.

I am going to save this to my favourites so that I can come back and read your write-up, which looks so entertaining, I'll save it for my ride to work tomorrow. The card is just fabulous looking. The white on black is so effective. At first I thought this must be for Janelle's MIX challenge, because it looks so like the artwork on a book cover.

I couldn't wait till tomorrow, I'm like all those ladies frantically crafting away in the lit-up neighborhood rooms. I just loved your write-up and all the little details...maybe most of all the plaid top your crafty runner is wearing. Thank you so much for this wonderful creation.

What fun this is, Beverly. Super creative and you were definitely channeling Mothermark (boy I miss her) in your story. Fun, fun, fun and super thoughtful!
