Although it may not be readily apparent, there are circles (a LOT of them) on this card. I first used the regular distress inks to get the water background. I then used the oxide inks for the sandy soil. In order to have circles for the challenge, I use a stencil with bubbles and Versamark ink. Then I heat embossed the bubbles with clear embossing powder. (There was quite a bit of discussion at my house whether there should be more bubbles higher or lower on the card - lower won!)
Since these are rather subtle (I'm not sure if you can even see these in this photo) I added more bubbles with the distress inks and the same stencil. I know the challenge asked for painted circles but other than watercolors I do not have paint in my crafting arsenal.
I heat embossed the sentiment in gold and stamped the school of fish and seaweed with distress inks.
My final step was to color the mermaid, fish and shell with the Copic markers. After deciding on the green mermaid (I colored three different ones - so watch for two more mermaid cards!) I covered her tail and the shell in the Spectrum Noir clear sparkle marker. The fish is covered in glossy accents. Lastly I added some clear drops of water with the Nuvo drops.
TFL - I really had fun with this card. I love the sentiment and enjoyed creating a "world" for my mermaid!

Love the sentiment alongside the mermaid appreciating her clown fish companion! Lovely job with the background, you've created a fabulous aquatic world!
