I love stripes and really wanted to make a card for Sabrina's WT to use stripes. Frequently there is a disconnect between my brain and hands....as you can see, there are no stripes in sight. I started with the 3 distress oxide inks that one of my son's got me for my birthday....so sweet of him, but he actually went to Michales without a coupon. Such a guy thing to do. This was my first try with the oxide inks and it did not turn out like i expected.i stamped a very old bg stamp with swirls but you can't really see it. Since it looked awful at this point, I applied similar color acrylic paint with a cotton roll. I die cut the frame and painted it with antique gold paint...which does not look gold in the photo. I added crackle paste for some texture. I splattered some of the gold paint and added some purple paint with a tiny cotton applicator. I haven't decided how I feel about it yet. TFL Francie

Well, just go ahead and feel good about it. I love those birds and that gold frame. Of course, I like the background. How sweet of your son to buy you the oxide inks. Don't you just want to squeeze him with a big ol' hug? Super card!

I think this is pretty...the pale colors, the swirly bg...I like it a lot! You need to play around with the oxides..they're different than the regular ones. I love the gold frame and your two birds. I think this is a big success ;)

We are our own worst critics. No need to be, this background and whole card is beautiful! Beautiful depth and movement for the birds and golden frame! I love the oxide ink bg colors!

Ah, Francie, you should be very happy with the end result, your card is fabulous!! I love the coloured swirly bg and the gold frame adds such wonderful dimension and texture. The placement of the black birds perfect, too. Love that your son actually went into a craft shop and bought his Mum such a lovely gift!!

Lovely collage card, Francie - I love the frame with the birds and the leaves intertwined - oh, and BTW, my husband just walked by and said, "Ooh, that's a nice card!"
