The theme for this Christmas card challenge was to use bears in making the card. My thoughts went immediately to the cute retired "Button Bear" set from 1995.
I used Memento Tuxedo Black ink to stamp the bear and candy cane onto SU Whisper White cardstock. These were both hand colored using Copic markers, then cut out with paper snips. The colors used were:
Bear:
Light Brown (E13)
Barley Brown (E11)
Yellowish Shade (YR20)
Cadmium Red (R27)
Celedon Green (YG25)
Candy Cane:
Cadmium Red (R27)
Celedon Green (YG25)
Yellow Green (YG03)
Cool Shadow (BG10)
The card base is Stampin' Up! Garden Green cardstock. Atop it was glued the Christmas stripe Designer Series Paper from SU's Nordic Noel paper.
The Christmas sentiment is a photopolymer stamp from the SU "Wondrous Wreath" set. It was stamped with SU Real Red ink using my MISTI so I could ink and stamp multiple times onto the panel of Whisper White cardstock.
The bear was mounted using adhesive foam strips, with a double layer behind his paw holding the candy cane to give even more dimension to the card. The candy cane was given a narrow adhesive foam strip before sticking it onto the bear's paw so it appeared he was reaching out to share it with holiday friends.
The hardest part was hand-cutting the bear and wreath, but not super difficult, just time consuming.
I liked how it turned out, and plan to send it to my 5-yr old granddaughter this coming Christmas.
