I LOVED today's site...wonderful mixed media pieces!! I chose https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-V8OasjEon...0/IMG_7044.JPG as my inspiration. I applied distress oxide inks to a craft sheet, spritzed and dragged some paper on top. I kept doing this til I got a good coverage. I then stamped some word stamps on the piece and ran it through my cuttlebug using 2 different ef..one an all over flower and the other a swirly corner. I then rubbed regular distress inks on top of that. I sewed and distressed around the edge. The photo is one of my actual g-grandparents. I had used it on another project and had extra prints. They came over from Sweden with their children (6? At the time, my grandfather was the youngest and born here). I can't begin to imagine what an adventure it was...leaving all your family and the place you're familiar with to come to a huge new country. I chose to put a tree behind them to represent a family tree. I'm going to give this to my niece who has done a lot of family research and is very interested in our heritage. So this card honors Kristine and Hakan..."the Greats".

This challenge was so up your alley, and it shows in the result! Great BG, layering, and love the tree behind them - a "family tree"! Beautiful vintage card, done in true Polly style!

What a great (you should pardon the pun) tribute to your ancestors! I love the collage look you've achieved. I'm in the process (a very long one) of tracing my family tree. It's such a treat when you come upon an old photo to include.

Your image is so perfect for your card and it is beautifully inspired too. I love the distress oxides. I just used mine for the first time today and really loved them. Your card BG turned out beautiful with the oxides. Fantastic vintage card Polly.
