This was salvaging a failure from my attempts at this week's Try a New Technique challenge. I was trying to make a red and green Christmas-y background but it mostly came out mud! I was going to toss in recycling but I decided to see if I could use punches to salvage the edges where it didn't come out quite so awfully. I punched the butterflies with the Martha Stewart anywhere punch, and the leaves with a Marvy punch. I sponged a sky of blue ink but some dark green crept in from previous sponge use, making the whole effect a bit somber. I attached the punched leaves across the bottom and the butterflies in the "air" above. I attached with fine line glue down the middles so I could push up the edges of the wings and leaves for dimension. I also added a line of green glitter glue to make bodies for the butterflies. Finished the card by stamping the sentiment with green ink.
I had been wanting to make a butterfly card for the CAS challenge "Winged Things" last month and never got to do it, so I'm calling this my entry for that challenge as well!

Gosh, this isn't at all what I was expecting after reading "sombre" in your post on the challenge thread. I think it's light-hearted:and happy. I'm glad you were able to rescue what felt like a fail... punching is great for that! The card is certainly a success. Thanks for trying the TLC this week.
