I had been wanting to try carving a stamp from fun foam and it is super easy. I just drew the image directly on the foam with ball point pen and cut it out. I used the pen as an embossing tool to make the leaf veins. I'm NO artist but leaves are pretty easy and I just followed the inspiration pic--took about 10 minutes total to make the stamp.
The only problem I ran into as that the el cheapo Dollar Tree fun foam I used was super thin--cut very easily but I had to use double sided tape to stick it to the back of a larger wood mount stamp to stamp with it. It worked surprisingly well but probably won't hold up over the long haul. If I use this thin foam again it would probably be for one shot usage or I would have something like a piece of scrap wood or something that I could permanently stick it to. Still, worked great for a fast and easy stamp design like this, that I probably won't use a bunch of times--and if I want to it's easy to make another!
I stamped the image in green dye ink on a white scrap and cut it out, leaving a thin white border all around, which contrasts nicely with the scrap of dark brown DP I layered it onto, popping it up with foam tape. I layered another scrap of tan striped DP (I want to say both scraps are from a super old (like 1990s!) pad of Provo craft paper that came in 5"x8" pads) onto a light brown kraft card and then layered the dark brown piece with the leaf onto that. THEN i decided to add the eyelets at the corners and run twine through them. If I had it t do over I would have done it before I attached all the layers so that the back of the eyelets and twine were hidden but it doesn't look too bad. Great inspiration site, thanks for the challenge, and thanks for looking!
