Polly's great MIX challenge today got a scrap that's been in my box for a LONG time used and onto a card. You can see the card I originally made it for HERE, and if you look, you can see how Polly's challenge really transformed it!
Originally I'd stamped the paisley stamp onto yellow card and embossed. In a vain attempt to damp down what was left of the original piece, I could see that I'd sponged over it with some darker yellow to tone it down, but it was still pretty much in-your-face. So today I dabbed it with some green acrylic and die-cut the flowers - and then decided that they needed a bit more, so I also dabbed on some copper acrylic.
The leaves were cut from Bazzill and stamped and embossed with silver, to pick up on the silver swirls in the paper.
The base too came from my scraps box - originally I had trimmed the lovely paper along some of the swirl lines, but when I used spray fixative to attach it to white card, it discoloured a bit - so while the fixative was still wet, I sprinkled Brushos over it and put it aside.
I wanted a big sentiment to fill most of the white corner. Sadly, when I heat embossed it the decorative paper underneath shrank and curled slightly. But I thought to myslef hey - look at what that sentiment says and just roll with it - this is mixed media, doesn't have to be perfect and anyway the curl in the paper picks up beautifully on the die-cut petals in the flowers. So I'm happy with it, and I stamped the sentiment again on the inside of the card.
To finish, I added some gems to the centres of the flowers.

WOW this turned out so cool! Thanks for including the leftover card it came from..what a difference. Your flowers are awesome...I especially like the copper that you dabbed on (I'm in love with copper!). The leaves are amazing, too. Glad you got to play along today in the last MIX of the year
Beautiful card! Yes those flowers are great on here. Just lovely, Sabrina! I can't wait to get home and try this! I like your idea of putting the paint on some scrap already on my desk!

I love your "save" on this card. I had some paper similar to what you have; I had saved it from an art class I took years ago, but because I had added one extra color to the paper, I disliked the overall look. I also cut it up into flowers just like this and the flowers looked great on several cards I made just this year! This card is beautiful!

Just when I thought I had my Favourites of 2016 list completed, along came this gem! Everything about this is FABULOUS!! Ohhhh I could sit and look at this for ages Sabrina. Actually I have been looking at this for ages - good thing I have 24 hours to change my list, your Winter sampler just might get bumped LOL.
