I stamped my image, coloured her with pencils and masked her, then used a homemade circle stencil to sponge in the background, and also sponged the floor after scoring too look like boards. I hung my paper lanterns across the top, using my smallest circle punch to punch a tiny notch in the edge of the card base to stop the gold cord from slipping.
I know Japanese decor is traditionally very minimalist but I thought the room looked too bare, so I added a little pot with a plant in Christmas colours.

Your scene is adorable and those lanterns are just awesome. Actually the addition of the plant is PERFECT - I lived in Japan for 4 years and though the furnishings were minimal, the flower lady came by each home twice a week because it was expected that there was a fresh flower arrangement in every room year-round.
