Every year I make gingerbread snowflake cookies with my treasured Martha Stewart copper snowflake cookie cutters(9)...understand they are collectors' items now. I use a good stiff gingerbread dough(reason I got a BIG Kitchenaid mixer since I burnt out the motor when I made these the first time with my Mother's old Sunbeam stand mixer). That's day one. Day two I decorate them with white royal icing in intricate designs and add dragees. My right hand hurts for two days afterwards. Each is packaged in a decorative cellophane bag and given to friends/family. Understand some eat them(being careful to avoid the dragees with their teeth), but most hang them on their Christmas trees. I found an image on the internet of these cookies made with the same MS cutters...printed that and used it to fill the jar image. Added highlights with white acrylic and shading with Copics.
It is too early for me to make the cookies yet....who wants stale cookies?? I have never photographed them, but maybe I should.

Sallie, your cookie jar is wonderful. You captured the glass reflection perfectly and added marvelous embellishments. Please post a picture of your cookies, I'd love to see them. Thanks for sharing your wonderful tradition and bringing cookies to the Cookie Exchange.

Oh my goodness! You make those? I do remember those pastry bags from cake decorating and don't know how you deal with the hand pain! The card is fantastic . I still can't imagine the work involved in those. Great idea to use a photo of those. Your layout is wonderful, Sallie!

Baking Christmas cookies always seems to evoke memories from the past. Love your story about your mom's Sunbeam mixer. My mom didn't make gingerbread (though I do). She made (among other goodies) the most amazing rum balls. I do wish I had that recipe now. Love the rich browns and sponged edges of your card! The highlights and greenish tinge on your jar make it look so real!

Yes you should Sallie..... The work that is involved must be time consuming to decorate each snowflake... They sound yummy. Not sure mine would make it to the tree, especially if they smell as good as they look. Love how you used the photo... Great card Sallie.
