I couldn't resist making some more of these cards using today's color challenge colors (though I spaced off and used Pool Party instead of Soft Sky by mistake). I had developed this technique a long time ago and bought this die bundle with it in mind. Yesterday I tried out the new die with the inlaid two tone layout and I really like it. I did a blog post with step by step photos yesterday. I didn't finish off the last two cards (I actually have a couple more in the works because I also diecut a silver set too) because I'm consciously trying to spend more time with the family in the evenings. You diecut 3 colors of 4x 5 1/4" pieces along a corner at an angle being sure to have the flourish go off the edge. I cut the first then use the reverse piece to position the die for the subsequent cuts to be sure to have equal size pieces. Then it's simply a matter of assembly which is a bit more complicated due to the tiny inside pieces....I try my best to keep as many as possible in place on those where I'm trying to use the diecut with those filling in the holes. I tried out the look on the left card of popping out all those tiny pieces and letting the base card color show through. I'm not sure which I like best. The last card you make uses two reverse pieces, a top and a bottom, leaving a gap between that reveals the base color. I did two of those yesterday You can also flip the reverses over to have the flourish go in the opposite direction (ask me how I know....didn't intend to try that out yesterday). I went for dessert by embossing my sentiments in silver.
