This is for Lydia's fun Mixed Media challenge "The Old Classics". I think I have used just about every medium I own. I had to go deep into the craft graveyard area to find my India ink bottle. I didn't want to wreck another brush so I applied it with a toothpick and did long sweeps down the gown.
This is the third time I have used Grace in recent mixed media challenges. This beautiful Gabrielle Pollacco image is perfect for playing and experimenting with mixed media.
Once again, this panel is going in my journal. The back ground is still very wet so I have just laid it on the book cover the photograph it. Again I have different edges on the panel - blade cut, hand torn, metal ruler torn.
Most of my previous "Grace" cards were done with Distress Crayons and Gelatos. This one is just Gelatos, applied directly onto the card and blended with a dry finger then ever so gently swiped with a baby wipe (following the direction of the Gelato streak). The idea with the baby wipe is to just move the Gelato without actually removing it.
I added long streaks of India Ink, glitter and metalic pens. I then coloured Grace's body and hair with Prismacolour pencils.
I had to put my big brave girl pants on to do the next step......I put a few drops of reinkers on a palette, and using a big wet brush I applied it to the top section of the card. The colour looked pretty ordinary so I just kept trying different reinkers in various shades of red, pink and purple.
I expect it will dry more evenly, but no biggie if it doesn't - this is for my book and will serve as a reminder to ???? not really sure, but you know what I mean.
The panel no longer looked balanced so I put an even bigger pair of big brave girl pants on and brushed on the reinkers on the bottom. Now this is something that I will definitely write in my book - reinkers react very differently when applied over the top Gelato and baby wiped areas. It was smooth and easy to brush the diluted reinkers, it didn't grip the paper like it did at the top. I sort of expected this where the Gelatos were but not the bottom baby wipe area.
Thank you so much for looking.

I see Gracie has had another night out on the town in another brilliant ball gown. Don't know how she does it - as she certainly has a gown for every occasion. Love all the details. This one reminds me of a "Gone with the Wind" style gown.

Susie, your imagination, writing skills, creativity and amazing talent take me on the most wonderful journey every single time I look at one of your cards. This card is just pure delight to the senses. The amount of technique you pour into your creations is a bit mind boggling for us "mere mortals" and it is quite inspiring too. I loved reading how you had to put your big girl panties on for the top portion of this card. Yep, even the bravest souls have to do that from time to time, I imagine. I love it! This is spectacular, amazing, incredible, phenomenal, gorgeous, elegant, classy.... and more! Love and hugs to you! ~Karen.
