While out of town I spotted this fantastic original pencil sketch in an art gallery. I went in to see if the artist perhaps made note cards of her work. I took the opportunity to browse her phenomenal paintings and sketches. She did not make copies of her work. I really wanted to color this image, but of course the original is large. Lisa Starr offered to sell me the sketch and to lower her price, removed it from the frame. I asked how she felt if I used this to make a card. Her reply, " I'd be honored." These were a joy to color since her sketch was so detailed. This card is going to Lisa as a thank you for allowing me to use her art! She's also a stamper.
I used Spectracolor and Caran d' Arch pencils to color.
I had some difficulty getting a good photo. This appears more saturated than it really is.

Wow...I am speechless. This looks so real. I was just out in my yard and it looks like one of those birds in the yard jumped onto your card. You are so talented with pencil coloring. I wish this was a large art piece to hang on the wall. Enjoy your travels.

Nancy what a sweet couple on this delightful card. I can see why you were attracted to this drawing....it shows the little gems that sit on the branches outside our windows. Your subtle coloring is perfect....you have just the right touch when it comes to these images...especially the ones that feature nature. Love it!!

That is such a beautiful image, and your coloring is amazing, as always! The beautiful subtle shading and feathery strokes are so realistic, and the paper you chose to mat the image with couldn't be more perfect. I think the artist is going to be blown away!

Jaw drop! This is stunning on so many levels Nancy. I can certainly understand why you did not want to leave without this print - how gorgeous! Your coloring of this is just stunning Nancy. I love the stitching you added in the upper corner too. Have you shown this to the artist? She will be super pleased with what you did with her work. I am putting this right into my favs! ~Karen.
