This is my favorite card I've ever made. My parents built their house in 1979 and have just decided to redo their kitchen. My brother was sad that they were getting rid of their orange countertops. So I decided to bring him part of it when I go visit him in Albuquerque this week. There were two staples to my parents' kitchen: the orange countertops and the squirrel cookie jar on top of the refrigerator where we kept concert tickets and other important documents. Here's a identical cookie jar for sale on eBay: http://m.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Califo...432?nav=SEARCH
This is his birthday card. Appropriately, on the inside it says "with each birthday you're closer to being more like your parents". That's actually kind of our goal in life.

What a special, meaningful card. I'm sure he'll really appreciate it. I still have our old childhood family cookie jar, LOL - a grandfather clock with mice.

A lovely "memory piece" that has great symbolism and meaning for your family. Your brother will certainly smile when he sees this card. I can tell a lot of thought went into your card.

Love your story! I'm sure your brother will appreciate his piece of history. Such a creative way to hold on to a memory and so sweet! Your squirrel is darling and coloured beautifully.

Oh, what a wonderful card for your brother! It's so special when you can make a card for someone that is totally designed with them in mind. Your parents must be very special people for you to want to emulate them.
