Faith gave us a fun story about angry birds and pigs for our monthly Teapot Tickle. I happily set about making my card, not realising that Angry Birds is a game until I read Sabrina's card description. These penguins look rather angry so I hope my card qualifies.
I have been practicing Heather Telford's amazing falling snow tutorial, so far all I have managed to do is run out of masking fluid LOL.
Here is one of Heathers gorgeous cards and it also contains a link to her fabulous tutorial here at SCS.
Here we have Jake, Mrs. Murphy and Claire out on patrol looking for troublesome pigs. They all started out life as unmounted rubber stamps by Katzelkraft. I used post-it notes to mask the lower two thirds of the card, then with the magic of MISTI and Versafine black ink I stamped Claire. It is supposed to look like she is behind a snow bank.
I repositioned the post-it notes to cover the bottom third of the card then stamped Mrs. Murphy, again using Versafine ink. The trees were stamped next with Ranger Archival Ink. Both inks are black but as you can see, the Versafine is much darker, which is what I wanted for the penguins.
Sadly Mrs. Murphy look like she had been dismembered so I added a polka dot bikini hoping it would look like she was in an ice hole, that didn't work either so I gave her a skirt and scribbled on some feet.
Jake was finally stamped and thanks to a tickle RAK from Sabrina, Jake has a very nice tie and hat. I added splotches of white paint, pencils and alcohol markers on the white areas and did the sky with distress inks and water. Finally I used the point end of a paint brush and dotted on some snow.
Note: To adhere unmounted rubber stamps and Stampin Up poly stamps that no longer stick, just use a glue stick. Simply use a baby wipe to wipe the glue off MISTI and the stamps.
Thank you for looking, I hope you have a happy, inky week.

Well, from the fact that my pigs are pink and not green, it's pretty obvious that while I did know it was a game, that was about all I knew, LOL. I think your penguins are perfect - poor Mrs Murphy, she did indeed have an adventure in the snow.
I'll let you know that I've struggled with that tutorial too - it's very hard (almost impossible!!) for me to get masking fluid to spatter - even with a spatter brush. Love your trees - and the face in the moon. All that lovely snow - those penguins should be looking happier!

Oh my gosh Susie- this card is a total hoot! And your story had me in stitches- literally! LOL. Not only are you a great artist, but you are a wonderful story teller too. I will gladly stand in line to buy one of the many books you write and illustrate and I can tell the people around me that I knew you before you were super famous. You are famous now, but you will become even more so! I'm being serious with what I just said. Back to your fabulous card though- where do I start! These dressed up penguins are absolutely fabulous!!! They steel the show of course. I love your snowbanks, trees and the lovely face in the moon too! Your snow looks fabulous, even if the technique you intended to do did not work out as planned. You tuck so many details into your cards it is amazing - and wonderful! Into my favs this goes! ~Karen.

So very cute. Where to start as your winter scene turned out great and the trees look just right. You penguins are looking a bit angry but are just adorable---glad you could save Mrs. Murphy and goes to show no mistakes in card making. Great card and one that would be nice sitting on a shelf. Sweet story tooooooooo.

WOW! What a bang up job you did casing Heather! That has been my life's ambition and I have yet to succeed! I love these penguins. You add so much to them to make them fun, particularly the bikini and skirt! Now how fun is that? The shading in your snow is fabulous! Love the face in the moon too! What a great touch that is!

Those birds don't just look angry, Susie, they look downright menacing. Enforcer penguins!, especially Jake there. (Someday, perhaps we'll hear why Sabrina sent you a tie and hat for a penguin.)
Having not looked at the snow tutorial, I think your snow looks quite good, and I'm fascinated by the face in the moon.
(I have played Angry Birds, but quickly gave up on it because I apparently have no aptitude for aiming a slingshot or cannon via the screen on my phone -- and probably not in real life, either.)
