Friday's Free For All Challenge, F4A344 "Into the Woods" 9/23/16, was to bring on the wood and use that Woodgrain that is lurking in our stamping stash.
This challenge is right up my creative alley...my stash of wood-related stamping goodies would boggle the average person's mind. But none of you reading this are average, so I'm certain you would see absolutely nothing out of the ordinary about having a veritable treasure trove of all things wood....but I digress!
The starting place for this card was a discarded strip of white cardstock that had 2 leaves cut from it. The negative space left by the cuts was so pretty that I pulled it out of the trash and did some wrap-around stamping to balance the design.
I had been messing around with my new MISTI, trying to get comfortable with using it, and this looked like the perfect little piece to learn how to place multiple stamps to create a design. Can't believe that I got lucky and didn't flub on the alignment of the long stamp. Whew! Thank goodness for the MISTI, because I had to stamp multiple times to get some of the words to come out with a rich dark black image. So very cool! Couldn't resist making about a dozen more of the stamped panels while I had the stamps on the MISTI, just because I could! I now understand why the MISTI is the most in incredible stamping tool invented!
I had a hard time coming up with the right-sized label to fit behind the leaf apertures. Everything label I tried caused the sentiment panel to be in a weird place on the card front. I finally settled on making a custom label from a scrap strip of green cs and one of the dies from SU Deco Label set. I die cut each end of the strip with the fancy edge of label die. This allowed me to choose the width and length I thought looked best.
Many thanks for stopping by and looking at my Triple the Thanks card!
