I was so excited to see the recent Friday Free For All Challenge, F4A344 "Into the Woods" 9/23/16. The challenge was to bring out the Woodgrain! This was music to my ears - I am loving anything woodgrain and my stamp supplies reflect that!
This particular card was inspired by some bits and pieces I had lingering on my craft table from some previous projects.
The tropical leaf die cut was from a practice piece that I made using distress inks and non-watercolor paper. The distress inks were smeared on a craft mat spritzed with DIY shimmer spray (water based), and the paper dragged through the ink. Since it wasn't watercolor paper, the ink didn't flow and look cool, like I was hoping it would. Bummer...I was going to discard the sample, but instead die-cut a bunch of different tropical leaves. No sense wasting it, right?! I then spritzed it again with DIY shimmer spray to give a little more oomph.
This card is really quite fun IRL. I couldn't capture the subtle distress texture on the background or the soft sparkle of the shimmer spray in the photo. At least the Woodgrain is clearly visible! Mission for the challenge, accomplished!
Thanks for popping by and looking at my card for the woodgrain challenge. "Wood-en" you like to play along, too?
