This is for Judy's fun technique challenge to use "texture".
This is another panel for my journal, flicking through the book is not only a good reminder of colour combo's and techniques, but also a great reminder of products (pens, stamps, paints etc) that I forget I own.
The silver and purple scribble on the dress and border was done with Kaiser pens (which I forgot I owned until I went looking for the texture paste). There are a few flicks of silver distress paint and a few sequins. Again, adding little things like this is a great way to kick my mojo back into gear when I am stuck wondering what a card needs.
After stamping this beautiful Gabrielle Pollacco stamp with grey StazOn ink, I used some homemade texture paste. I went searching for my upload where I first used this paste and was surprised to see it was 2 years ago. The paste is still in perfect condition.
The purple tinge in the background was made by mopping up a blob of paste that was in a corner on the card, with a baby wipe, then ever so gently wipe the card being careful not to cover the dancer. This accidentally created a halo effect.
RECIPE for texture paste. 1 part white acrylic paint, 1 part talcum powder, 1/2 part liquid glue.
I used Johnsons baby powder (the tag smells lovely), I used Crayola Kids Washable School glue. Because I wanted it purple, I added purple paint and then added more glue and powder. In future I will just use coloured paint and no white at all. The consistency is like tooth paste. I stored the excess in a sealed plastic container, one week on and it is still good.....UPDATE: 2 years on and it's still good!!
Thanks for looking.

What a way to end my day, Susie....gazing at your gorgeous artwork. This is so lovely. The shades of purple are stunning. The halo affect is perfect. Such a "prettier look" than the intended use to clean poop off a baby's bottom. Faved

Bestill my heart Susie, this is stunning! This card looks like a fabulous painting that belongs in a high-end art gallery- truly! I am fascinated and completely in awe of the techniques you use to make a card. And not only do you make a card with amazingly ordinary products, but you make a masterpiece with them! Because I am still trying to pick my jaw up off the floor, all I will say is - I am AMAZED and AWED in the best possible way by this gorgeous card of yours! ~Karen.
