For Robin's Free For All, F4A342, she asked that we make a card that shows time, as in clock/clocks. I made this card for the challenge.
The card took me a couple days to create as I wanted to create a card in remembrance of 9-11-01. It took time to make as it brought back many emotional memories. I was one of those running for her life when Flight 77 crashed into the Pentagon at 9:37 a.m. EST in the US.
At the time, I was working for the Federal Government in Washington, D.C. As my staff gathered in my conference room watching on TV the horrific occurrences in NYC, we were in shock.
8:46 a.m. - Flight 11 crashes into the North Tower of the World Trade Center (WTC);
9:03 a.m. - Flight 175 crashes into the WTC's South Tower;
9:37 a.m. - Flight 77 crashes into the Pentagon - Panic struck, I was confused but ordered my staff to leave the building immediately! When we exited the building, there were masses of people running, not knowing where to go! I found my car pool members and felt some relief that we were together out of the building.
However, we were stuck!! Traffic was not moving, phone lines weren't working, panic everywhere. It took us HOURS to exit the city and to arrive at home. Then I realized Flight 93 crashed into a field in PA. That day is one that is etched in my memory, never to be erased.
As for the card, I used red and yellow brushos to resemble the horrific fires! I used an embossing folder on the dried card stock to represent the "pieces"; lives lost breaking families into pieces, buildings fell into many pieces, survivors hearts broken into pieces, etc.
The clocks on the card are broken into pieces and the face of each clock is grayish to represent the horrific gray matter flying in the air when the WTC Towers crashed.
Let us never forget!!!
TFL!

Oh my gosh! This is so so wonderful! It is important for us to remember what happened that day -- it was so tragic! Why we keep supporting those terrorists is beyond me -- but we will never forget. Fantastic card!!!

Wow, Bev, a very powerful, creative and brilliant card in remembrance of that awful day that really did change the world, it must have been truly frightening to be there. Here in Australia we watched with horror on the tv and yesterday, 11th September here, we all paused and remembered. My own mother was there at that time and was meant to be staying in the hotel that collapsed, near the towers, that night - she naturally remembers New York in all its fear and sadness.

Oh, dear Bev, what a touching tribute as we commemorate this horrific day in history - one that is truly seared into the memories of many here in the States and throughout the world. I love each intentional aspect that reminds us of the events of that day, and yet I am so encouraged (as we all should be) by the Scripture passage you've added from Isaiah 43. Yes, God will be with us through it all! Hugs, dear and loved friend! xoxo

This is brilliant! The red for fire, the cracked clocks designating each crash and your comments on your own experience that day. Thank you for sharing this beautiful tribute and your own story, Bev.

Bev I just came to your card throught the Favorites thread...WOW your card is amazing! And I can't get over your first hand account of being in DC near the Pentagon during this horrific time. Your representation of all the lost "pieces" is touching and brings tears to my eyes. Thanks for sharing your experience and perspective fifteen years later....
