This butterfly has been fluttering at me and flirting with me since I first saw it in the Impression Obsession catalog online and fell in love with it. But I told it in no uncertain terms that I was much more comfortable working with the smaller butterflies that I had been using. It didn't listen to me! What would I do with this huge creature? It would completely cover any background I would like to pair it with. I make cards for a group that wants us to make only A2 cards. I know I can use it on larger cards, but those are fewer and far between. I like to be able to get a lot of use out of a die. I stopped checking back in the IO catalog. I did hear some whimpering as I breezed past the IO website. But I had conquered this obsession! I don't want to get out of my comfort zone at this particular point in my life. Why must I spend hours trying to find just the right whatever to make this Beautiful creature stand out.
Then the other day I was flipping through Pinterest and saw this gorgeous card from Art Deco Diva's Gallery on SCS and had an aha moment. I like that when they're mixed in among my senior moments. It gives me hope. She had the all white background and placed the color interest behind the butterfly. I thought it was Spectacular! And I had to steal her idea. Who needs to have a busy background? The beauty is in the creature itself! I would just accent it's inherent beauty. Well, now that that was settled I absolutely had to get that die. And a day later I found that this little Beauty had worked it's way into my local stamp store. I heard this semi-loud pssst. And there it was...cradled in among a few other very nice IO dies. OK. I admit...I grabbed it feverishly and hugged it. Ran directly to the checkout counter and headed home.
I'm looking forward to substituting some fall solid colored CS for the white and using some of my Paper Mojo papers behind the butterfly. And maybe a gold butterfly. My mind boggles.
I also must admit I'm really happy with the way this turned out. Thanks for looking and have a great weekend! This is Labor Day weekend and I will be laboring over a stack of cards using the MISTI my very special DH surprised me with. You don't realize how much you need a MISTI until you use it. I try to make multiples of cards but get frustrated after the first few after doing all the lining up and everything. I know I must sound like I'm selling them on the side. I'm not, but if you must make more than one or two of a card this is a God-send. Having a MISTI puts me in a whole new kind of comfort zone.
I just looked at what I've written. It looks like a small novel. I just told Susie (Australia) yesterday that I didn't know what to write and I may not do a narrative at all. Oops. Guess I was wrong. But there is that little note at the top of the form that says something like the more, the better....right?

LOL Miss Ellen I did NOT want your commentary to end. I feel like I have been sitting beside you listening to how this gorgeous ginormous butterfly came to live at your house. Everything about this is wonderful my friend.

Oh how I enjoyed both your story and your lovely card....it looks like that beautiful butterfly just flew in your window and turned into a card. That gorgeous bg peeking through with all the white space is amazing. Seeing as I have never made a successful CAS card in my life, I have to admit to a little feeling of envy.

Oh.my.gosh! I love the card, but I love the back story just as much - YOU should be a writer (maybe you are!). So glad you and the die finally got together - a match made in heaven!!
