What could be more appropriate for the CAS375 (5/2/16) I do Challenge than to make a 50th Anniversary card? I missed seeing this challenge when it happened, so I decided to play along now!
If you are one who is tuned into the name associated with 50th wedding anniversary, you will be scratching your head and saying, "50th is Golden. Where's the gold?" Well, if you look real close, you will spot 5 tiny gold pearl bling on the flowers...pathetic, I know. Ha...
The inspiration for this card was a piece of watercolor background that I had made months before. I went out and bought 4 different gold glittery papers, knowing that one of them would look fabulouso with the WC. Well, imagine my panic when I went to make the card yesterday (the day of the event!!!!), only to discover that gold ANYTHING looked hideous with the orange/pinks in the watercolor! I was blessed to find a half sheet of this sugar-coated cardstock in my stash. It didn't clash with the bright watercolor, so I went with it. IRL, the lily-white sugar coating has the prettiest tiny sparkles of pink, orange, and gold and it glitters nicely when it catches the light.
The hardest part of this card was getting the layers to adhere!!! Double sided tape didn't work between the watercolor paper and the glitter cs, ditto for Xyron adhesive. I ended up using Tombow Mono Multi adhesive (green tube) and weighing down the glued panels with a hefty stack of books until they dried. Fortunately this worked and the card held together nicely.
A note about the watercolor panel. I used a wet-on-wet, smoosh technique with distress inks. I smooshed Spiced Marlemlade, Ripe Persimmon and Picked Raspberry on a craft mat and spritzed water on the inks and then spritzed water on a piece of Strathmore #140 watercolor paper. Then I swiped the WC paper through the wet ink and let it move on the paper. When it was dry or nearly dry, I splashed the piece with water droplets to lift and soften the colors.
Thanks for popping in to look at my card for the "I Do" challenge. Congrats to my friends Charlene & Don for 50 years of "We Do!"

This is beautiful. And a little gold is still gold ;-), what more do you need. I know I didn't have a whole lot of diamond on whatever it was for my in-laws, 60?
