MariLynn has challenged us to melt a plastic bag and use it in a project. I used a Barnes & Noble bag because it was printed with images and text from old classic books. The bag I happened to have has Tom Sawyer on one side and Moby Dick on the reverse side. I chose the side with Tom Sawyer. I folded the bag purposely keeping the image of Tom Sawyer as the top focal image and melted the bag per the video tutorial and then embossed it with the Asst'd clocks EF. I listed oil pastels in the list of accessories because I used them on the raised embossing hoping for a resist effect, but it didn't seem to have an effect. Next, I used copper, gold, and espresso acrylic paints on the "bag". After it was dry, I sponged brown distress inks around the edges. Added copper brads and sentiment sticker from the small talk collection. I embossed the base layer with the leafy tree trunk ef, sponged edges with distress inks and added a strip of TH washi or tissue tape.
I am thrilled with the results of this technique, and it was a lot of fun!
