Mary is our hostess this week in the Color Challenge, and she has asked us to use Watermelon Wonder, Peekaboo Peach and Pear Pizzazz. The dessert option is to feature flowers or fruit on our projects.
I broke out my new set from CAS-ual Fridays, Pretty Posies, and created an L-shaped arrangement, using masks to overlap the flowers, stamped with VersaMark and heat embossed with white powder on watercolor cardstock. I stamped the sentiment in black, and clear embossed. Cut the panel with Blueprints 13, and went about watercoloring.
I have to say, I am NOT an artist. This was my first attempt with these wonderful watercolors, and the process was delightfully easy and fun. I had to mix paint colors to get each of the challenge colors. I expected this to be really difficult, but again, easy-peasy, and I think I came pretty darned close! I screwed up my courage and added some splatters, and I kinda like the effect. And of course, a few sequins--gotta have bling!
This card is also for Alba's DTGD challenge.
Thanks for stopping by, and please play along with us this week!

My dear Barbara, you certainly are an artist, and your card proves it!! It's beautiful!! If you hadn't mentioned it, I would have thought you used the exact colors as the colors you used look perfect!! I love the L-shaped arrangement and your water coloring is certainly much better than I would ever achieve! Great card, Barbara!

There are many things that constitute an artist, and I definitely think you qualify, Barbara! Love that you took a risk (you always inspire me, trying new techniques!) and the result is so pretty! Love the masked flowers, the splatters and, of course, the requisite sequins!

Great job, Barbara! And what a grand success for your first time with the watercolor paints! I think the splatters always give it that something extra to pull things together!
