After a busy weekend, I finally had a chance to check out the recent challenges. Audrie gave us a great Pinterest site of beautiful pottery bowls and I was inspired by this one:
It immediately made me think of alcohol inks on Yupo so I started playing around and tried to mimic the design on the bowl - way more difficult to do than I thought. But I ended up with some nice pieces and this one was closest to the bowl.
The pointy shape of the bowl made me think of a Christmas ornament - perfect since today's CAS challenge is "Christmas in July".
To "hang" my ornament, I dry embossed a holly branch and attached the ornament with gold cord, and popped the ornament up on foam tape.
A simple sentiment and a border of shimmery green finished it off.
Edit: A couple of commenters have asked what Yupo is. It's a synthetic non-absorbent paper - fabulous to use with alcohol inks. It's been in the art market for awhile but Tim Holtz has now added it to his line of products. Here's a video he did showing the difference between Yupo and glossy cardstock:

Oh WOW! You did MUCH better on Yupo than I did! I had a mottled mess! It appears you allowed your colors to move so beautifully! I tend to mess with it too much. That ornament is just gorgeous, Susan!

GORGEOUS Christmas card, Susan. Your art with inks and the Yupo paper are glorious!....and make a spectacular ornament. Using the dry embossed white bg makes the effect all the more stunning.
